Woman Not Competent To Proceed On Conspiracy To Commit Child Sexual Assault Charges

WASHBURN COUNTY -- The Court has made a finding of incompetence for a woman charged with allegedly conspiring to commit child sexual assault in Washburn County.

DrydenWire.com reported in July 2020 that Amanda Nickels and Aaron Miller were charged criminally following an investigation into conversations allegedly held by the two in which they discussed locating a young girl for Miller to have intercourse with and potentially impregnate.

Miller repeatedly questioned Nickels on the progress of the search for a juvenile female, stating that he would not come to visit her if she can’t get a juvenile female for the sexual encounter, according to a criminal complaint filed in Washburn County Circuit Court. During an interview with investigators, Nickels stated that Miller wanted to “have a family” with her and the “little girl”. Nickels also said that the age Miller preferred for a juvenile female, age 9 or 10, was pedophile age and that Miller would go to jail.

On September 29, 2020, the Court signed an Order of Commitment for Nickels, according to online circuit court records; following a hearing on September 23, 2020, at which Nickels was found to be incompetent to proceed on the criminal charges.

Miller is scheduled to appear again in October 2020 on his charges of Class B Felony Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault, with Intent to Cause Pregnancy to that Person; Class C Felony Conspiracy to Commit Sexual Assault of a Child Under 16 Years of Age; and Class C Felony Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime. Miller remains in custody on a $10,000 cash bond.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
