WisDOT Schedules US 63 (River Street) Reconstruction Public Involvement Meeting

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Northwest Region is conducting a Public Involvement Meeting regarding the US 63 (River Street) reconstruction project, from Greenwood Avenue to Poplar Street, in the city of Spooner.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Spooner City Hall, 515 North Summit Street, Spooner, WI 54801. The meeting will follow an open house format with a brief presentation beginning at 5:15 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the preferred alternative and design changes that have been made from the input gathered from the initial public involvement meeting in January 2018. The department will continue to look to the public for input to assist in the further development of the design and final roadway plans. Maps of the project area and preliminary plans will be on display, and WisDOT staff will be on hand to answer questions, and take written and verbal comments.

The proposed improvements involve resurfacing US 63 from Greenwood Avenue to WIS 70 and reconstructing US 63 from WIS 70 to Poplar Street. Improvements include reconstructing the roadway, sidewalks, pedestrian curb ramps, storm sewer and City utility replacement. Construction is currently programmed to occur during the summer of 2021.

All interested residents, property and business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Diana Maas at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
