To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $2.55 million contract with prime contractor Century Fence Co. of Pewaukee for a regionwide pavement marking project. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, May 6.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will replace epoxy pavement markings on the following sections of highways in 17 of the region’s 20 counties:
- Ashland County: WIS 112, WIS 13 to WIS 137.
- Barron County: US 8, Front Avenue to County P, and US 63, US 8 to WIS 48.
- Bayfield County: US 2, US 63 to WIS 13.
- Buffalo County: WIS 88, Waumandee Creek Bridge to WIS 37.
- Burnett County: WIS 35, Lind Road to County K, and WIS 70, WIS 35 to Viola Lake Road.
- Chippewa County: WIS 27, WIS 64 West to WIS 64 East; WIS 64, 180th Street to WIS 27; and WIS 124, US 53/County OO to Summit Avenue.
- Clark County: WIS 73, Thorp
- Douglas County: WIS 13, Engdahl Road to US 53; WIS 35, County B East to the Burnett County line; US 53, 53rd Avenue to County C; and US 53, County E to Kent Road.
- Dunn and Eau Claire counties: I-94, mile 44 to mile 59.
- Eau Claire County: US 53, Keystone Crossing to Golf Road.
- Jackson County: WIS 54, Black River Falls to east Jackson County line; and I-94, Trempealeau County line to WIS 95.
- Jackson and Monroe counties: I-94, mile 125 to US 12.
- Jackson and Trempealeau counties: WIS 54, WIS 71 to US 53.
- Pepin County: WIS 85, US 10 to the Dunn County line, and US 10, WIS 85 to the Buffalo County line.
- Pierce County: WIS 72, County G to the Dunn County line, and US 10, US 63 to the Pepin County line.
- Rusk County: WIS 40, Chippewa County line to Bruce.
- Sawyer and Washburn counties: WIS 48, Birchwood to WIS 40.
- Trempealeau County: WIS 35, 10th Street to WIS 93; and WIS 93, A Street to Eau Claire County line.
The contractor plans to start in the northern counties and move south. During these moving operations, highways will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures.
Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-October.
