Wisconsin Man Sentenced On Convictions From Firearms Incident In Fond Du Lac County

(DrydenWire) -- The Court has sentenced Darrell Scott, of Oshkosh, WI, for convictions stemming from an incident in Fond Du Lac County in April 2023, when Scott was taken into custody for an operating while intoxicated violation and made repeated statements that once released from custody he would 'buy an assault rifle to shoot up a school,' saying he 'thinks about it daily.'

Fond Du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney stated in a press release following the incident, “Anyone that threatens to commit a school shooting and threaten the lives of students and educators will be aggressively prosecuted in our community. Parents must have confidence that when they send their children to school that they will come home safely and teachers must feel safe while educating children in our community.”

Scott was charged with Class I Felony Terrorist Threats - Create Risk of Causing Result, Use of a Dangerous Weapon; Misdemeanor Operate While Intoxicated 3rd Offense; Misdemeanor Possess THC; and Misdemeanor Operating With a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration.

Online circuit court records show that Scott appeared for a recent court hearing and Hon. Anthony Nehls ordered a sentence for Scott on convictions for Class I Felonyerrorist Threats - Create Risk of Causing Result (without the enhancer for use of a dangerous weapon); Misdemeanor Possess THC; and Misdemeanor Operating With a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Scott’s charge of Misdemeanor Operate While Intoxicated 3rd Offense was dismissed.

Scott received credit for 202 days served in confinement.

Scott received an imposed and stayed sentence with 1 year of probation. If his probation is revoked, he faces 1 year of confinement in county jail.

Conditions of probation require Scott to pay costs and surcharges and comply with Department of Corrections requirements.
