(NWS) -- A winter storm will move through the Northland Tuesday night through Wednesday night, bringing accumulating snow.
The heaviest snowfall is expected to occur along the South Shore, thanks to a period of lake-effect snow. Expect slick and dangerous travel conditions for Tuesday night and especially for the Wednesday morning commute. Near-blizzard conditions are possible along the Bayfield Peninsula south towards Ashland.
Winter Storm Warnings are now in effect for Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties, with Winter Weather Advisories for adjacent areas, into northeast Minnesota.
Blowing snow will also lead to reduced visibilities, along with the slick road conditions. Use extra caution if out traveling Tuesday night through Wednesday night.
