WASHBURN COUNTY -- Shell Lake has had a power outage since early this morning. The County says that it had been anticipated that power would be restored within 24 hours but crews are still working on getting it up and running. Latest info is that Cumberland is trying to connect to the Shell Lake power grid and send juice up that way.
“Crews have had a heck of a time with plowing the wet, heavy snow. Many vehicles and debris were blocking effective plowing,” said Washburn County Administrative Coordinator Lolita Olson.
As of Thursday evening, power has not been restored to Shell Lake; therefore, Washburn County Courthouse and Government Center will be closed Friday, December 16, 2022.
This closure does not affect Law Enforcement, Highway or Forestry staff.
