UPDATE: Body Of Missing Man In Burnett County Recovered; Name Released

DrydenWire.com has learned that the body of a 49-year-old man from Hammond, WI, who went missing while swimming on Lower Clam Lake on Sunday, has been recovered.

BURNETT COUNTY -- DrydenWire.com has learned that the body of a 49-year-old man from Hammond, WI, who went missing while swimming on Lower Clam Lake on Sunday, September 5, 2021, has been recovered.

On Sunday, approximately 3:13p, in Meenon Township, Burnett County Dispatch had received a call of a possible drowning.

DrydenWire.com reported on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, that authorities in Burnett County were still searching for the missing person and that the search was “ongoing.” That search has now ended following the recovery of the missing man.

The body was recovered from Lower Clam Lake on Wednesday morning.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased.

UPDATE: The Burnett County Sheriff's Office has released more information including the name of the deceased in a press release sent Wednesday afternoon which can be read in its entirety below.

On September 8, 2021 at approximately 9:46am the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, teamed with the K9 Emergency Response Team, Siren Police Department, Webster Fire Department and Emergency Management located the missing man from Clam Lake.

The man was located in the general area of the original location that he was missing from.

The Burnett County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted in the recovery of the body.

The man’s identity was confirmed as Jason R. Gilbertson, 49, of Hammond, WI.
