UPDATE: Authorities have released the names of the parties involved in Tuesday's fatal multi-vehicle crash in Bayfield County. This post has been updated with that information.

BAYFIELD COUNTY — A multi-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, on US 2 at Crooked Lake Road in Bayfield County. The crash involved 1 fatality and 2 injuries, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

At 9.57a, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in Bayfield County on US 2 at Crooked Lake Road. Preliminary evidence indicates that a pickup truck was traveling westbound on US 2 when the driver lost control. The pickup crossed the centerline, then struck an eastbound semi-tractor trailer, according to the news release. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says that road conditions were a contributing factor.

Assisting agencies included Bayfield Sheriff’s Dept., Iron River Fire Dept., Iron River Ambulance, Iron River Police Dept., and Ashland Fire Dept.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
