Two Children Discovered Deceased Following House Fire Near Minong, WI

WASHBURN COUNTY — Two children were discovered deceased following a house fire near Minong, WI on Saturday morning.

According to the Washburn County call logs, a 911 call was placed at 4:52a on Saturday, February 20, 2021, stating that a house was on fire at W6901 Semrad Raod.

The caller stated the two children were ages 10 and 13. At approximately 5:30a the log states the two were deceased.

“Our hearts go out to the family during these difficult times,” said Washburn County Sheriff Dennis Stuart to DrydenWire.com on Sunday. Sheriff Stuart added that "the family is left homeless with no belongings and could use any donated items. There is a GoFundMe page for anyone interested in helping this family out. I have reached out to the school superintendents so they can set up grief counseling for the friends of the students on Monday morning.”

Additional agencies were the Minong Fire and Ambulance, Gordon and Wascott Fire Departments, and the Washburn County Sheriffs Office, according to the Sheriff.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
