Two Arrested Following Standoff In Rusk County

RUSK COUNTY -- Two people are in custody following an "hours-long" standoff in Rusk County on Thursday, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office received information about two male subjects with felony warrants who were currently in Rusk County.

The Barron/Rusk Emergency Response team responded to a house on Norwegian Rd in the Township of Atlanta.

After an hours-long standoff, Jacob and Shane Shimko were taken into custody by the Emergency Response Team.

Shane Shimko was arrested for a Rusk County child support warrant and a felony DOC warrant.

Jacob Shimko was arrested for a Rusk County felony drug charge, a Rusk County resisting charge, a felony DOC warrant, multiple Chippewa County felony warrants for resisting arrest, bail jumping, and possession of THC.
