Two Airlifted Following Three-Vehicle Crash Near Spooner; Several Injured

SPOONER, WI - A three-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 53 and County Road H in Spooner on Wednesday afternoon resulted in multiple injuries and a response from local emergency services, according to a press release from the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 18, 2024, at about 4:52 p.m. Washburn County Dispatch received a report of a three vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 53 and County Road H in Spooner.

Two automobiles and a vehicle pulling a camper were involved in the accident.

Multiple injuries were reported resulting in two people being flown from Spooner Health System to a higher level of care facility. Other injured persons were transported to local hospitals.

Spooner Fire Department extracted two people from their vehicle, and they were transported by EMS.

Highway 53 traffic was rerouted onto Highway 63 north of Spooner, and County Road H was closed.

Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post is conducting the accident investigation. Assisting with the accident were Washburn County Sheriff's Office, Spooner Police Department, Spooner Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, Minong Ambulance, North Memorial Air Care.
