Tragic Single Vehicle Crash In Polk County Claims Life Of Milltown Man

POLK COUNTY -- A single-vehicle crash in Polk County has resulted in the loss of a life. On Saturday, May 27, at approximately 11:39 p.m., the Polk County Emergency Communications Center received a distressing 911 call regarding a rollover crash on County Road Y, north of County Road M, in the town of Osceola. The vehicle involved in the incident had rolled over and was partially submerged in water.

Upon receiving the call, first responders from Allied Fire and Law Enforcement swiftly arrived at the scene. Despite the challenging circumstances of the partially submerged vehicle, they courageously entered the waist-deep water to rescue the sole occupant. The first responders worked diligently to administer life-saving measures before transporting the victim by ambulance to Osceola Medical Center. Later, the injured individual was flown to Regions Hospital in Minnesota for further medical care.

Sadly, on Saturday, June 3rd, the occupant succumbed to their injuries and was taken off life support. The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Brett Evenson from Milltown, Wisconsin. This heartbreaking incident marks the fourth fatality in Polk County in 2023.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the Osceola Ambulance, Allied Fire, and Life Link Air Ambulance for their invaluable assistance during this tragic event.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
