Statement Regarding Community Vaccination Clinic

BARRON COUNTY -- The Following statement was issued by Laura Sauve, Health Officer and Public Health Manager.

Today the State announced four additional community-based COVID-19 vaccine clinics. The clinics will be located in La Crosse County, Racine County, Marathon County, with the last clinic split between Douglas and Barron County. Locations will open within the next two months. The locations will open in the following order:

  1. La Crosse County
  2. Racine County
  3. Marathon County
  4. Douglas and Barron County (joint)

These community vaccine sites are meant to fill in gaps in access and are only one option for vaccination. Other options to receive the vaccine include:

  • Your healthcare provider
  • Your local pharmacy
  • Walgreens federal retail pharmacy program
  • Your local health department
  • State Mobile Vaccination Team Clinics

Douglas and Barron County jointly applied to be a community-based vaccination clinic through the Western Wisconsin Public Health Readiness Consortium (WWPHRC) to bring vaccines to northern Wisconsin. WWPHRC is a regional consortium consisting of thirteen local public health agencies and two tribal health agencies.

Because the Douglas and Barron County clinic is joint, there will be sites in both counties but resources will be split between the two counties. Regardless of where you live or work, these clinics will be available for all Wisconsinites who are eligible for the vaccine.
