ST. CROIX FALLS, WI — The City of St. Croix Falls has announced they have completed the purchase of the three vacant buildings in downtown St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. The City had previously reached a settlement in January.

We are pleased to announce that the City of St. Croix Falls has successfully completed the real estate transactions for and is now the owner of the three vacant buildings located at 101, 107, and 136 North Washington Street, and a vacant parcel, all formerly owned by Richard Anderson. The former owner, Mr. Anderson, will be moving items out of the buildings until March 1, 2023.
This is the culmination of a settlement agreement between the City of St. Croix Falls and Mr. Anderson, concluding a multi-year enforcement action and negotiation. The city will expeditiously inspect the buildings and evaluate them for code deficiencies to prepare them to be resold to private parties. We have received several inquiries about the buildings. We will post the property’s availability publicly as soon as they are deemed suitable for sale.
The City’s objective is to get these properties back into private ownership and occupied by successful businesses as quickly as possible. The blighted building at 136 North Washington Street was subject to a previous raze order and is scheduled to be demolished in the next few weeks. The impending vacant property will then be marketed for sale as a vacant lot.
Mayor Anderson stated, “the city is very excited to conclude this chapter of the settlement agreement and looks forward to the continued growth of our historic downtown.”
