Spooner School Board Approves Josh Fizel To Continue As Middle School Principal

SPOONER, WI -- The Board of Education approved Josh Fizel to continue on in the capacity as Middle School Principal.

Mr. Fizel has served as the Interim Middle School Principal for the 2022/23 school year.

He commented “I am honored and humbled to serve the students, families and staff of Spooner Middle School as the building Principal. It is a special leadership opportunity and I am excited to be a part of the tremendous work happening at SMS each day. I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to provide the best, most positive educational experience for all students and families as we pursue our district mission of preparing each student for a successful future.”

Dr. David Aslyn commented “Mr. Fizel has distinguished himself while serving as the SMS Interim Principal. His focus on serving students, high level of leadership and his commitment to working collaboratively have had a positive impact at SMS. I'm pleased to have Mr. Fizel as a permanent part of the SASD Leadership Team."

Mr. Fizel earned a masters degree in administrative leadership and school administration from Silver Lake College. He holds Principal and Director of Instruction licensure from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. He has served in a variety of roles for the Spooner Area School District. Board President Nathaniel Melton commented "We are excited to have Josh Fizel as our Middle School Principal. His energy and positivity is contagious. So happy to have him here in Spooner."
