SPOONER, WI -- On March 22nd, 2023 at about 8:55 am, the Spooner Police Department responded to the Spooner Schools for a reported threat. The Spooner Police Department along with the Spooner High School, took a phone call from an unknown caller, who was very hard to understand. The threat was of an active shooter in/at the Spooner High School.
Spooner Police Department was assisted by Washburn County Sheriff’s Office in responding. Officers were sent to all schools to conduct a walk through.
It was determined that this was a case of “swatting” and the call that was received was a hoax.
It has also been reported that other schools around Wisconsin have had the same type calls today.
Spooner Police Department works very closely with its schools and staff and is very proud of the working relationship.
At this time there is no threat to any of the school buildings.
