SPOONER, WI -- Spooner Police Chief Mike Kronberger issued a press release on Friday regarding former Spooner Police Officer Dakota 'Cody' Dorn who is facing multiple criminal charges in Washburn County Circuit Court.

On October 9th 2023, the Spooner Police Department learned of allegations of an inappropriate relationship involving a minor and Dakota Dorn. Dakota Dorn was immediately placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation was initiated with the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office being requested to conduct the investigation.
Prior to the closing of the investigation, Dakota Dorn resigned from his position with the Spooner Police Department on December 11th, 2023. The matter was turned over for review to the Burnett County District Attorney’s Office who served as special prosecutor.
On May 30th 2024, the Spooner Police Department was notified that criminal charges were filed in Washburn County Court against Former Officer Dakota Dorn as a result of the criminal investigation.
