Spooner Health Now Seeking Director of Plant Operations

SPOONER, WI – Spooner Health is now seeking candidates for a Director of Plant Operations.

Duties of the position include:

The Director of Plant Operations oversees the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of facility systems including boilers, HVAC, electrical, life safety, and emergency power. This working manager role involves hands-on leadership, supervising staff, scheduling duties, and ensuring compliance with state and local codes.

Key responsibilities include directing all maintenance and engineering activities, ensuring regulatory compliance (OSHA, CMS, Wisconsin standards), and promoting safety and infection control. The Director conducts staff evaluations, facilitates training, and maintains departmental competence through ongoing education and performance reviews.

This role requires effective communication, collaboration across departments, and active participation in facility events and professional organizations. Duties also include managing budgets, coordinating preventive maintenance, and performing inspections and repairs on building systems and infrastructure. The Director fosters a positive work culture, supports staff development, and drives continuous improvement through data analysis and benchmarking.

Requirements of the position include:

Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience (healthcare preferred)
Required licensure/certification
Active membership in WHEA and ASHE
Healthcare Certified Facilities Management (HCFM) credential
