Spooner Building To Become Medical Specialty Facility

SPOONER, WI -- Last October, Dr. Brent Carlson from Chippewa Valley Orthopedics contacted Amy Greenfield, PT/clinic owner, as he lost his outreach clinical space in Hayward. By November, they had made arrangements for him to use the Greenfield Physical Therapy office for his outreach clinic one Friday a month. Now, almost 8 months later, Chippewa Valley Orthopedics is able to expand their services and continue to see patients in the same building as Greenfield PT, as the Public Defender has relocated. Construction is under way on the North end of the building at 112 Ash Street and services should be in the new facility by July. By July, Dr. Carlson will also have an additional new outreach space in Hayward and will be able to serve the Northwoods in both locations.

Dr. Carlson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in hip, knee and shoulder surgery. His areas of expertise include arthroscopic surgery of the hip and total hip replacement, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and various shoulder replacements, as well as knee arthroscopy and knee replacement.

As collaboration began with utilizing the renovated space in the same building as Greenfield Physical Therapy, Dr. Carlson and Greenfield, also reached out to other Chippewa Valley Ortho doctors and doctors in the Oak Leaf Medical Network. Dr. Kamal Thapar, Neurosurgeon with Wisconsin Brain & Spine, was one of the first to jump on board with expanding his services further north. As one of the largest private neurosurgical practices in the state, Dr. Thapar is widely respected for the breadth of his education, the precision of his neurosurgical technique, as well as the compassion and warmth of his bedside manner. “Having known and worked with Dr. Thapar for 19 years, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him expanding his practice to our community.” Greenfield said about having Dr. Thapar practicing under the same roof.

The Greenfield PT team is also expanding their space within their current building and adding Concussion Clinic services with Jeanne Brown, Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer, joining their staff! The new space will allow Greenfield PT to expand their Industrial Rehab and Testing space for injured workers, as well as a more dynamic area for their athletes. This will also provide a calm, quiet space that will be conducive to treating concussion patients. With 45 years of experience in the Athletic Training field, and her training in Pittsburgh in 2010 on the ground floor of development of the ImPact program, Jeanne brings expertise in the assessment, management and treatment of concussions.

“Having our building become a medical specialty facility where we can provide the team approach with care of our patients is very exciting and we are proud to bring this to Spooner.” Greenfield concluded.
