Changes are coming to the Siren Police Department. Chris Sybers will be retiring from his post as Chief of Police effective August 4, 2022.

Sybers began his career with the Siren Police Department in 1995, first serving as a part-time officer before transitioning to a full-time position in 2002. He was appointed Chief of Police in 2004. Sybers has built a career in public service, serving as a part-time officer in the Villages of Frederic and Grantsburg as well as the City of Spooner; a jailer/dispatcher for the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, and a reserve deputy for the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the Siren Village Board voted to promote full-time Officer Trevor Thiex into the vacancy left by Sybers. The first day in his new role will be August 5.
Thiex has been an officer with Siren Police Department since 2010. He also started as a part-time officer before going full-time in 2018. Thiex brings with him agency experience from his five years with the St. Croix Tribal Police Department and ten years as a deputy with the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
“Chief (Sybers) has already been starting to pass along his insights,” Thiex said. “I appreciate the faith the Village Board has in me and I’m hoping to make this transition as seamless as possible.”
Christopher Sybers will be retiring from his role as Chief of Police for the Siren Police Department effective August 4.
Siren Police Department’s Officer Trevor Thiex will assume Chief duties on August 5.
