POLK COUNTY -- A 62-year-old man from rural Frederic, WI, has passed away after apparently driving off of the roadway and striking a tree, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO).
The PCSO says that on On Sunday, October 24th, 2021, at 10:33p, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call reporting a crash that occurred on County Road E in the Town of Lorain. The caller reported that a Ford truck ran into a tree and the tree was in the roadway, according to a press release sent to DrydenWire.com.
Information in the press release states that upon the Sheriff's Deputies arrival it was found that 62-year-old Joseph Lang, of rural Frederic WI, was traveling northbound on County Road E. As the roadway made a sharp curve to the west (left) the driver continued straight off the roadway. Upon entering the ditch, the vehicle struck the tree. At the time, Joseph Lang was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Joseph Lang was air-ambulanced to Regions Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away, according to the PCSO.
Assisting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with this incident the Lorain Fire and First Responders, Northland First Responder and Ambulance Service, Life Link Air Ambulance Service, and the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office.
The crash is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
