ST. CROIX COUNTY - In a devastating incident, the St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a distressing call at approximately 8:28p on December 23, 2023, reporting a single vehicle crash in the 2300 Block of 90th Ave, Baldwin Township.
Upon arrival, deputies from the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office discovered a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup that had rolled after entering the ditch. Tragically, the driver, identified as Lavonne S. Hampton, aged 58 and hailing from Baldwin, WI, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Ms. Hampton, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. The investigation revealed that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the United Fire Department, Baldwin Medic, and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner in managing the aftermath of the incident.
This marks the fifteenth traffic fatality recorded by St. Croix County in 2023.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
