Sheriff: Spooner Woman Steals Car, Leads Police On 33-Mile Pursuit

BURNETT COUNTY - A suspect has been arrested following a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement that spanned 33 miles, according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 8, 2023 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Burnett County Dispatch received an attempt to locate on a vehicle that was stolen from the City of Spooner. The vehicle, a white Pontiac Solstice convertible bearing a Wisconsin dealer plate, was allegedly stolen by a female.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. a Burnett County Deputy and a Wisconsin DNR Warden observed the vehicle operating on State Highway 35 in Swiss Township. They began pursuing the vehicle using their emergency lights and siren. The female driver lifted her arm and raised her middle finger at the pursuing law enforcement.

Several other law enforcement officers joined in the pursuit and attempted to set up tire deflation devices at several different locations. During the pursuit the driver of the stolen vehicle damaged two separate yards at residences. One of our squad trucks also sustained minor damage. The pursuit went for just over 33 miles.

The pursuit ended at a business on County Road U in Oakland Township.

The suspect, Katrina Boyle, age 34, from Spooner, was uncooperative during her arrest at the scene. She was taken into custody and transported to the Burnett County Jail.

Multiple charges have been forwarded to the Burnett County District Attorney’s office.

The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Wisconsin DNR, Wisconsin State Patrol, Siren Police Department, Webster Police Department, St. Croix Tribal Police Department and the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
