BARRON COUNTY -- Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald has released the Barron County Sheriff's Dept. 2024 Annual Report.
Introduction from Sheriff Fitzgerald:
2024 was a year for change-lots of transition. We started 2024 with Chief Deputy Jason Hagen and Captain Darren Hodek taking on these new roles. We had a full year of new people in training in the jail and dispatch but finally have leveled off and fully staffed as I write this.
Lots of OWI'S, Child Porn Cases and Sex offenders being released in the county.
Only a couple of major cases with a murder/suicide outside of Chetek and 11 traffic fatalities which has led to increased traffic enforcement for 2025 with the help of state grants for overtime.
We are set and ready for 2025 and look forward to serving the citizens and having a little fun along the way.
We hope to finish the jail expansion project and work on couple of other projects in the form of deputy wellness including a new gym space and some new equipment and conducting deputy wellness checks.
