WASHBURN COUNTY -- Shell Lake Arts Center is pleased to announce that it will kick off its Sixth Annual “Art of Film” Film Series on January 12th, 2019 with a film hosted by Justin Peck at 7:00 pm at the Shell Lake Arts Center. Film titles are not yet available, but more information will be coming soon.
The series will run on three different Saturday dates in 2019: January 12th, February 2nd, and March 23rd. The Center is excited to be able to welcome back Justin Peck, UW-Madison Film Studies graduate, who will be the host each evening. Featuring critically acclaimed films from the United States and around the world, the movies that will be chosen were not available in area theaters when first released, may never have been in wide-release, and some are just worth seeing again. This is a great opportunity for film lovers to watch films on a big screen followed immediately with the opportunity to stay and discuss them. Each film will start off with a short introduction, and a conversation will be facilitated following each film.
Films begin at 7:00 pm and are projected on a 9’ X 16’ screen in the Center’s cafeteria/conference room. There is plenty of seating, but audience members are also welcome to bring their own comfortable, folding chairs if they prefer. Popcorn, snacks, and beverages will be available.
The Arts Center is located at 802 First Street in Shell Lake two blocks off Highway 63. The south doors that face First Street are the entry doors for the Film Series. Admission is by free will donation with a suggested donation of $7 a person.
A full list of show dates is currently available on their website www.shelllakeartscenter.org, and film titles will be added soon. You can also find more info on the Shell Lake Arts Center Facebook page, and by calling 715-468-2414.
