The Shell Lake Arts Center will hold its annual “Tribute to the Big Bands” concert on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:00 PM in the Darrell Aderman Auditorium located at 802 First Street in Shell Lake. Admission is $15 per adult and $5 per student under 18. Donations received from this concert will be used to assist students who would like to attend the Arts Center’s various summer camps, but may not be able to afford full tuition. The evening will feature all the dance band favorites of the 20s and 30s, as well as newer jazz band selections performed by the Center’s nationally acclaimed master jazz faculty. Enjoy an evening of fantastic music while supporting this worthwhile cause!
Other upcoming Arts Center events include free faculty and camper concerts during Jazz Ensemble & Combo Camp Week II and Jazz Improvisation & Combo Camp. Friday, June 28th at 5:00 PM will be the jazz camper performance in the Aderman Auditorium where students will dazzle you with the skills they have learned over the course of camp. Sunday, June 30th, come and enjoy the Master Jazz Faculty in the Aderman Auditorium at 7:00 PM, and on Monday, July 1st at the Shell Lake Lakefront Pavilion at 7:00 PM.
On Wednesday, July 3rd, as part of the block party family night in Shell Lake, the outstanding jazz faculty will be performing at 7:00 PM down at the Beach Pavilion. They will play a wide variety of jazz tunes from the American Songbook. Each faculty member will be featured on a piece. The audience can expect upbeat, exciting selections and improvised solos, and the faculty looks forward to performing for the area community at a beautiful setting on a great night in Shell Lake. This concert is also free and open to the public.
The week will culminate with the Jazz Improvisation & Combo Camp student performance on Friday, July 5th at 3:00 PM in the Arts Center's Darrell Aderman Auditorium.
