SHELL LAKE, WI -- The School District of Shell Lake announced the names of the three finalists for their superintendent opening today. The finalists were selected from an original field of five highly qualified individuals. There were no internal candidates.
The finalists are:
- Todd Felhofer, currently the District Administrator/7-12 Principal at the School District of Greenwood, Greenwood, Wisconsin.
- Kurt Lindau, currently the District Administrator at the Lake Holcombe School District, Lake Holcombe, Wisconsin.
- Tom Wissink, currently the New Richmond High School Principal, New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Mr. Felhofer began his teaching experience in 1987 as a middle school teacher in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. He spent 10 years as a middle school teacher in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, and from 1999- 2015 was an elementary school principal in Marshfield Unified School District, Marshfield, Wisconsin. Mr. Felhofer became the District Administrator/7-12 principal for the School District of Greenwood, Wisconsin in 2015 where he is currently employed. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master’s Degree in Reading and certification in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mr. Lindau began his teaching career in Hinckley, Minnesota in 1994 where he taught students with special needs. He was a special education teacher in the School District of Ladysmith, Ladysmith, Wisconsin from 1995-1999. In 1999 he became the Hawkins Elementary School principal in Hawkins, Wisconsin. Mr. Lindau returned to Ladysmith in 2002 where he served in various positions: middle school principal, business manager, director of special education and district administrator. In 2014 he became the District Administrator for the Winter School District in Winter, Wisconsin and in 2019 he became the District Administrator/Director of Special Education in Lake Holcombe School District, Lake Holcombe, Wisconsin where he is currently employed. Mr. Lindau holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Mr. Wissink works for the School District of New Richmond, New Richmond, Wisconsin, where has been serving as the high school principal since 2012. Prior to New Richmond, he was the Sumner Memorial High School Principal in Sullivan, Maine for two years from 2010-2012, Assistant Principal/Dean of Students at Oshkosh North High School, Oshkosh, Wisconsin from 2007-2010 and from 1995-2004 was a social studies teacher at Oshkosh West High School. Mr. Wissink has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Studies Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The Shell Lake School Board plans to conduct final interviews on February 9. The final interview will include a second interview by the board of education and an interview by the district leadership team. In addition, community members, parents, students, and staff members are invited to attend an Open Forum that evening to meet the candidates and to ask questions. The three-candidate Open Forum interview times will be 5:00, 6:15 and 7:30 pm at the school. Anyone interested in more information can contact administrative assistant Lana Balts at 715-468-7816.
The new superintendent will replace David Bridenhagen, who will be retiring in June, 2022.
