NORTHWEST WISCONSIN — Due to severe winter weather, the following schools in DrydenWire's coverage area—Barron, Burnett, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties—have announced closings or delays for Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

The coldest air of the season is expected to arrive tonight, with sub-zero temperatures and wind gusts up to 20 MPH creating dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 40 degrees below zero.
On Monday, many schools were already closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day or a Teacher In-Service day. Others that were scheduled to be in session canceled due to the extreme cold. As the frigid conditions persist, we anticipate schools will begin announcing closures for Tuesday throughout the day.
Please note that some districts may transition to virtual or remote learning if schools are closed. We recommend checking with your school district for that information.
