(Press Release) -- On 09-05-18 at approximately 7:30 p.m. a Sawyer County Deputy observed a black colored Chevrolet Impala auto traveling northbound on CTH E, which made an improper stop at the intersection with Williams Road in the Town of Bass Lake. The suspect vehicle then proceeded westbound on Williams Road, at which time the Deputy activated the red & blue emergency lights on his squad car and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.
The Deputy continued to attempt to catch up to the suspect vehicle on Williams Road but temporarily lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later the Deputy observed the suspect vehicle on its side in the ditch on Williams Road approximately .8 (eight tenths) of a mile from the intersection of CTH E.
As the Deputy exited his squad car, he observed an occupant of the suspect vehicle running from the suspect vehicle, but the Deputy was unable to catch up to the person. The Deputy then returned to the suspect vehicle and assisted another Deputy who had arrived to assist. The Deputies located a female occupant in the suspect vehicle.
The female occupant was subsequently treated at the scene by Sawyer County Ambulance Paramedic and EMTs. The female occupant was transported to Hayward Area Memorial Hospital for possible injuries. The name of the female occupant is not being released at this time.
This incident remains under investigation. The identity of the occupant who ran from the vehicle remains unknown at this time. Anyone who may have information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.
