SAWYER COUNTY — The Sawyer County Health Facebook page is offline after allegedly being hacked, according to a news release from Sawyer County Health.
“The Facebook page for Sawyer County Health was hacked on Friday, October 16, and is currently offline,” the news release states.
More information regarding the apparent hack was not provided, however, this comes just days after the Sawyer County Health Facebook page shared an excerpt from a New York Times article that received backlash from the followers of the page in the comments of the post on their social media page. It is unknown if this post and the hack are related.
For daily updates, Sawyer County Health is requesting the community visit the Sawyer County COVID-19 Response website. The news release states that the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System will be undergoing system improvements and routine maintenance this weekend, therefore the updates won't be live until Monday.
