SPOONER, WI — The Spooner Area School District has announced the passing of Dan Rosenbush. The SMS was closed to students today due to the passing of the long-time teacher and coach.
Superintendent of Schools Dave Aslyn issued the following statement late Thursday morning:
It is with great sadness that we share that Dan Rosenbush, SMS Teacher and husband of SHS Teacher, Susie Olson-Rosenbush, passed away unexpectedly last night. Mr. Rosenbush served in the Spooner Area School for 30 years as a teacher and coach. His positive impact with countless Spooner staff and students is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
Today, SMS staff are gathering to process and support each other and to prepare for the return of our SMS Students tomorrow. The SHS student body was informed at the beginning of the school day today. The SMS student body will be informed at the beginning of school Friday. A team of mental health professionals have been notified and are available to speak with and support any student who expresses a need or interest.
