Representative Armstrong To Work With Regional Leaders On Midwest-Canada Relations Policy

LOMBARD, IL — State Representative Dave Armstrong has been appointed to a regional committee of legislators that will provide a cross-border forum for dialogue and information sharing as well as ensure that the perspective of state and provincial legislators is presented to federal officials in Washington, D.C., and Ottawa, Canada.

As a member of the bipartisan Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC) Midwest-Canada Relations Committee, Representative Armstrong will be working with leaders from 11 states and four Canadian provinces.

The Midwest-Canada Relations Committee provides an opportunity for Midwestern legislators to explore a range of issues, including border policy; supply chains; trade policy and agreements; energy; economic development and more.

Lawmakers from the following states and province are members of the MLC: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. In addition, members of the legislative assemblies in three Canadian provinces — Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario — are MLC affiliates.

The Midwestern Office of The Council of State Governments provides staff support to the MLC and its policy committees.
