Madison – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) issued the following statement after voting no on the Brewers’ new deal that would keep them in Milwaukee through 2050:
“Voting yes on this legislation would be a disservice to my constituents. The amendments that came along with this bill were not enough to sway me to a yes. The sales tax revenue my districts would receive from this deal was not enough. Also, the biggest deal breaker of them all was that amendments bailed out Milwaukee by having them pay less than what they were originally paying by almost $70 million. That is why it is a no-deal for me.”
Senate Bill 109, which was authored by Rep. Green and Sen. Quinn and allows the operation of an ATV or UTV owned by an electric cooperative on a highway, also passed out of the assembly unanimously. Rep. Green issued the following statement:
“As the law currently stands, electric cooperatives do not fit under the definition of "public utility". This bill would allow this exemption to take place and allow electric cooperatives to operate ATVs and UTVs on public roadways. An ATV or UTV has become essential for public utilities to conduct power line maintenance, construction, and restoration of power. These vehicles have the ability to traverse rough terrain with low environmental impact and can carry tools, equipment, and workers into areas not accessible by truck. I am happy that this bill passed with a bipartisan vote.”
With SB 109 being passed earlier in the Senate and now in the Assembly, this bill heads to Governor Evers’ desk.
Rep. Green also voted in favor of Assembly Bill 303, which would make statutory reforms to the Wisconsin broadband expansion grant program, administered by the Public Service Commission, in order to modernize it and make it more efficient and effective at expanding broadband access across the state.
