Madison – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) joined his fellow colleagues and voted for the 2023-25 state budget proposed by the Joint Committee on Finance.
“This historic budget is a massive win when it comes to investing in all of Wisconsin, and I commend the Joint Finance Committee for their hard work,” said Rep. Green. “This budget reduces government spending, includes a historic tax cut, invests in transportation, has record allocations to public and private education, and so much more.”
Governor Evers’ proposed budget included a two-billion-dollar tax hike, an unlimited spending spree on new government programs, and an expansion of welfare benefits.
JFC’s budget proposed a $4.4 billion tax cut that includes over $600 million in property tax relief and getting rid of the personal property tax, which will save the taxpayer $173 million.
JFC’s budget also included an additional one billion dollars in funding for public education while increasing the funding for private school vouchers. It also included $1.5 billion in increased funding for transportation to fix local roads, state highways, and bridges. This funding for transportation is more than what Governor Evers proposed in his budget.
“These are wins for all of Wisconsin, but this budget also includes wins for the 74th Assembly District,” said Rep. Green. “These wins include: funding for the Les Voigt Fish Hatchery and the Brule State Fish Hatchery; funding for the repairs of the Steve Creek Dam; funding the La Pointe Harbor Commission to keep the Madeline Island Ferry successful; investing $525 million in housing; and many more. I am thrilled to see these projects come to fruition.”
The budget now heads to the governor’s desk.
