Madison – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) voted last night in favor of Assembly Bill 245, which puts historical funding into local government, and Senate Bill 330, which expands school choice in Wisconsin.
“These two pieces of legislation are historic for the state of Wisconsin,” said Rep. Green. “I want to thank everyone who had a hand in the negotiations to see these bills get across the finish line.”
Every local government will see at least a 20% increase in shared revenue. This legislation will be the largest increase in state history when it comes to shared revenue.
The expansion of school choice will provide almost $280 million in additional funding for choice and charter schools, while public schools will see an additional one billion dollars in funding as part of the deal struck with the governor.
“This is a win for school choice and public education, with both seeing historic investments in each,” said Rep. Green. “When public schools fail our kids, the parents should have the choice to send their kid to a school that best fits their needs and will help them succeed in the future.”
AB 245 and SB 330 now head to the governor’s desk.
