Press Release

Public Health is reporting the fourth confirmed death from COVID-19 in Barron County. The death occurred in an individual in their early 60s. The person had no underlying health conditions.

“We want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this individual, said Health Officer, Laura Sauve. “Losing someone is never easy, but so unexpectedly makes it even more difficult. Our hearts go out to all those touched by this loss.”

Barron County Public Health urges community members to help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms and call your doctor to be tested. Wear a cloth mask when in public and wash your hands often. Avoid any unnecessary travel and do not gather with those who do not live in your home. Businesses are strongly encouraged to follow guidance from the Wisconsin Economic Development Cooperation (WEDC) https://wedc.org/reopen-guidelines/.

“We all need to work together to protect our family, friends and neighbors, Sauve continued. “It is important to remember that the change in season doesn’t change COVID. We still need to continue following the recommendations to keep our community as healthy and safe as possible.”
