WASHBURN COUNTY -- Andrew Mortensen was ordered to serve time in Wisconsin State Prison for a conviction of possessing methamphetamine.
DrydenWire.com reported previously that Mortensen was facing criminal charges after an anonymous tip received by the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office in November 2017 resulted in the arrest of 4 people.
That tip led officers to a residence located off Highway 70. An arrest warrant had been issued for Mortensen, and officers found him at the residence and took him into custody.
During the course of that incident, officers located at least a dozen pipes of the type commonly used to smoke either methamphetamine or marijuana; a scale which had methamphetamine residue on it; over a dozen plastic baggies of various sizes and which contained either methamphetamine, heroin, or marijuana; several syringes; several hundred dollars in cash; a bong, used for inhaling marijuana; several grams of Methamphetamine and Heroin.
Following that incident Mortensen was charged with Class F Felony Possess w/Intent Heroin, Class H Felony Bail Jump (5 Counts), Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Possession of THC (Marijuana) - 2nd + Offense,
Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia. He was already facing charges of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Possession of THC (Marijuana) - 2nd + Offense, Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia filed against him in Washburn County Circuit Court in a separate case in December 2016.
Also arrested and charged criminally following that November 2017 incident were Rebecca Baker, Sherrie Deloye and Dennis Deloye. Their charges are still pending and they are all due to appear again in Washburn County Circuit Court in April 2018.
Online circuit court records show that on January 17, 2018, Andrew Mortensen entered a plea of Guilty to Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine stemming from the December 2016 case filed against him and also entered a plea of Guilty to Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Class H Felony Bail Jumping stemming from the November 2017 incident. All other charges against Mortensen were dismissed and read in.
At a sentencing hearing on March 26, 2018, the Court sentenced Mortensen to 1 year, 30 days confinement in State Prison for one of his convictions of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine to be followed by 1 year, 5 months of Extended Supervision. This sentence is to be served concurrently with a sentence of 1 year, 6 months confinement in state prison that Mortensen is already serving on another criminal case, according to online circuit court records.
Additionally, the Court ordered Mortensen to serve two years of probation on his other conviction of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and also ordered 2 years of probation for his conviction of Class H Felony Bail Jumping. Mortensen’s probation is to be served consecutively to his 1 year, 5 months of extended supervision.
