POLK COUNTY -- Polk County welcomes Claire Johnson as the Communications and Public Information Specialist.
Johnson will be responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing communications with the press, except for those handled directly by elected officials, such as the Sheriff. She will also manage the Polk County website and assist with social medias. This new role will also serve as Polk County’s project lead in its partnership with the UW-Madison UniverCity grant program. Johnson’s position was newly created by Polk County in the 2022 budget and is under the direct supervision of the General Government Director and works closely with the County Administrator.
“Polk County Government is committed to transparency and finding ways to better communicate with the citizens and visitors of the county,” said Chad Roberts, General Government Director. “The welcome addition of Claire to our talented staff helps us be more responsive to the needs of our community.”
Johnson has a background in communications and brings over four and a half years of professional experience to the County. She was previously the Branding and Communications Coordinator at the Voyager Village Property’s Owner Association in Danbury, Wisconsin. Johnson attended the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire from 2015-2018 and obtained her degree in Organizational Communication and in Multimedia. Johnson grew up in nearby Burnett County and is excited for her new position at Polk.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to fill this new role at the County and be the first person to pave the way,” Johnson said. “Everyone here has been incredibly welcoming, and we have a great team already. I think this will be a great new chapter for me, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.”
