At a hearing on July 15, 2024, Geway Braman was sentenced on a conviction for Class D Felony ​​Neglecting a Child (Consequence is Death). His charge of Class B Felony 1st Degree Reckless Homicide was dismissed but read in at a hearing in April 2024

The Hon. Judge Daniel Tolan heard sentencing recommendations from Polk County District Attorney Jeffrey Kemp and the defense counsel for Braman. D.A. Kemp recommended a 20-year sentence with 10 years of incarceration in state prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision. Defense counsel for Braman recommended an imposed and stayed 4 years prison sentence with 4 years of probation.

Judge Tolan ordered Braman to serve a 19-year prison sentence with 9 years of initial confinement followed by 10 years of extended supervision. Conditions of supervision will require Braman to undergo an alcohol and other drug assessment as well as a mental health assessment and any other treatment, programming, or evaluations required by the Department of Corrections. He will be prohibited from having alcohol or being the sole care provider for anyone under the age of 18. Braman received credit for 577 days served in confinement.

POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) -- The Court has ordered a cash bond of $100,000 dollars for Geway Braman, on criminal charges of homicide that are filed against him in Polk County Circuit Court. Braman was recently arrested by U.S. Marshals in Arizona on an arrest warrant that was filed in Polk County associated with the homicide case filed against him. Braman appeared for a bail bond/return on warrant hearing on April 18, 2023.

Braman is charged with Class B Felony 1st Degree Reckless Homicide, and Class D Felony ​​Neglecting a Child (Consequence is Death). The charges were filed regarding the death of a 7-month-old infant who died from blunt head trauma.

The 10-page criminal complaint filed against Braman on March 30, 2023, states that on December 12, 2017, shortly after 8a Law Enforcement and EMS personnel were dispatched to a residence in Luck, WI, for a report of a 7-month-old child not breathing.
