BIRCHWOOD, WI -- Police activity near the Birchwood School District in Washburn County has resulted in the closure of the school for the remainder of the day with evening activities canceled, according to a post from the Birchwood School District.
Via Birchwood School District:
The Birchwood School district was notified by the Birchwood Police and the Washburn County Sheriff's Office that police action was about to take place at a property near the school. The District was told by law enforcement to evacuate the school for the safety of students and staff. This directive came before any police action was taken and there was no active threat to any student or staff member.
All students are currently at Trinity Lutheran Church and will not be returning to the school today
Roads around the school are blocked off by law enforcement until further notice.
Please do not go to the school for any reason.
Parents can pick up students at Trinity Lutheran between now and 3:30, buses will run as usual and will pick up students at the church at approximately 3:30.
All after-school activities will be canceled for today.
