SAWYER COUNTY — One person has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Sawyer County that resulted in the death of one person with another sustaining injuries, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 23, 2020 at approximately 12:49 p.m., the Sawyer County Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a domestic incident that involved one person being deceased at a residence located on Hinton Avenue in the Town of Hayward. Sawyer County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sawyer County Ambulance EMT’s/Paramedic, LCO Police Department, and Wisconsin DNR responded to the scene.
Upon arriving on scene, law enforcement located a male victim identified as Thomas L. Farnsworth, 72 of St. Paul Minnesota deceased from an apparent stab wound. A second victim; Juli A. Farnsworth, 65 of St. Paul Minnesota was located with severe facial injuries and lacerations. Mrs. Farnsworth was life flighted to a hospital in Minnesota for her injuries. It is unknown at this time as to the extent of the injuries or her current medical condition.
Law enforcement took Peter D. Farnsworth, 34 of Rocky Ford, Colorado into custody and is reported to be the son of the victims. Farnsworth is currently being held in the Sawyer County Jail on charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and Substantial Battery.
This incident remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, Sawyer County Coroner’s Office with assistance of the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin Crime Lab and Wisconsin State Patrol.
