WASHBURN COUNTY - One person was found deceased after Washburn County Emergency Personnel responded to a residential structure fire in Evergreen Township early Monday morning.

Washburn County Dispatch received a call shortly after 5a regarding a home at W7814 Keller Road being full of smoke.

The Spooner Fire Department and Shell Lake Fire Department responded to the scene to find a fully engulfed structure.

At approximately 9a, Spooner Fire advised they were clearing the scene with the Sheriff’s Office remaining at the location. Due to the severity of the damage caused by the fire, the residential structure had collapsed.

A State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation, according to Spooner Fire Chief Darren Vik. “A vehicle was parked outside of the residence, indicating that someone may have been home,” Vik said.

Heavy equipment was then brought in and utilized in processing the scene.

Shortly after 4:30p, authorities requested the Coroner be contacted after discovering the body of a deceased adult male inside the collapsed structure.

The victim is identified in Washburn County Call Log, however, DrydenWire.com has not been able to confirm if the family has been notified so will not be including that information at this time.

The situation remains under investigation.
