DUNN COUNTY -- An 18-year-old UW-Stout student died overnight according to a Media Advisory sent today via email from Jerry Poling, Assistant Director of Communications at UW-Stout.

MEDIA ADVISORY

The following memo was sent today to students, faculty and staff:

It is with great sadness that we inform the UW-Stout community about the passing of Haaris Ameen, 18, a first-year UW-Stout student. Haaris, from Rochester, Minn., passed away overnight. No foul play is suspected, and the death is under investigation. He was majoring in computer and electrical engineering.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Haaris’ family and friends.

Counselors at the UW-Stout Counseling Center, 410 Bowman Hall, 715-232-2468, are available for anyone in need of support following this tragic event.
