In today’s standards of higher education, accreditation is a major factor when considering which institution and program to apply to. For Northwood Technical College’s Medical Assistant program, those standards have been met for 47 years according to the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB), which was formed 53 years ago and began accrediting programs in 1969. That makes the College’s Medical Assistant program accreditation almost as old as the MAERB itself.
Annually, the MAERB announces the top 25 currently accredited Medical Assistant programs with the longest running accreditation under their criteria and guidelines in an email communication known to medical program directors as Tipping Point. In its entirety, the accreditation process is an indicator of a quality education for schools to entice prospective students with meeting or succeeding the standards or guidelines set by the peer group of professionals within an organization that completes the reviews for accreditation.
