Northwood Technical College To Host Construction And Cabinetmaking Open House Showcasing Student-Built Home On May 15, 2025

Rice Lake, Wis. ⎯ Northwood Technical College invites members of the media and community to attend the annual open house for the Construction and Cabinetmaking student house project in Rice Lake.

For more than 20 years, this hands-on project has been a key part of Northwood Tech’s Construction and Cabinetmaking programs and a valued tradition in the Rice Lake community. Each year, students gain real-world experience by building a home from the ground up—learning every phase of the process, including framing, finishing and even crafting the cabinetry inside the home.

This year’s home is especially meaningful. It is a project commissioned by a Northwood Tech alumnus who chose to partner with the same program he once graduated from to complete a build for his own business. It’s a full-circle moment that reflects the lasting impact of technical education and its continued benefit to the local workforce.

Guests are invited to tour the student-built home, admire its craftsmanship and design, and connect with the students and instructors behind the project. Join us in celebrating more than two decades of skilled trades training and community collaboration.
