Superior, Wisc. – Together with 74 of other NC3 Leadership Schools across the country, Northwood Tech hosted its first National Letter of Intent Signing day on April 20, 2023. This national event sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work.
Incoming students from welding, automotive, HVAC/R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration), industrial maintenance and machine tool programs for the Fall 2023 term at the Superior Campus were invited to participate in the signing ceremony, similar to an athletic signing.
In addition to this celebratory event, current Northwood Tech HVAC/R student Tristan Ristow was chosen as one of 50 recipients across the nation to be awarded The Skilled Trades–3M Transformational Scholarship, a national scholarship through 3M and the National Coalition of Certification Centers. This $1,000 scholarship provides schools the ability to build within the community by focusing on bridging gaps of inequality with the highest standards of skilled trades and education.
