News Release
ASHLAND, WI -- NorthLakes Community is adding Nutrition Therapy to the services it offers at our clinics in Ashland, Hayward, and virtually in Hurley, Iron River, and Minong. Nutrition Therapy looks at the way eating impacts overall wellness and how it can improve outcomes. Registered dietitian, Rebecca Crumb-Johnson, has joined NorthLakes, helping to make this new program possible.
Crumb-Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota majoring in nutrition and minoring in psychology. After completing a dietetics internship at Oregon Health Science University, she received her Master of Arts in Health and Human Services Administration from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. Prior to joining NorthLakes she was Clinical Dietitian/Diabetes Program Director at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wisconsin.
The Nutrition Therapy program will work closely with NorthLakes providers to help patients receive guidance on their diet and lifestyle so that they are empowered to take control of their wellness through healthy adjustments at home. Some of the conditions that Nutrition Therapy can help with include: Heart Disease, Weight Management, Diabetes, and Kidney Disease. Rebecca is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist so is able to address diabetes education issues such as monitoring, complication prevention, and medications.
“The addition of Nutrition Therapy to our line of services will allow us to offer another layer of care for our patients, giving them the option to take more control of how they can treat their conditions on their terms,” said NorthLakes Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deb Dryer.
In helping to create this new program at NorthLakes, Crumb-Johnson will bring her knowledge and experience to all patients that she cares for. Crumb-Johnson says, “When I work with people we set realistic goals that they are able to achieve. I meet people where they are so that the plan we come up with is practical, affordable and of course helpful!”
Crumb-Johnson lives in Washburn with her family where she volunteers with the local and county 4-H club and crushes it at the local cross fit gym.
To connect with NorthLakes Nutrition Therapy consult with your current primary care provider, at NorthLakes or any other health care provider, to determine if a referral to NorthLakes Nutrition Therapy would be beneficial.
