SAWYER COUNTY -- On Labor Day afternoon, a car vs motorycle crash in the Town of Hunter resulted in the death of the driver of the motorcycle, according to a press release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

On September 7th at 1:37p.m., the Sawyer County Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a car vs motorcycle crash on County Highway CC near fire number 8677N in the Town of Hunter. Sawyer County Deputies assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Sawyer County EMS and the Round Lake Fire Department responded to the scene.
Initial investigation and eye witness statements indicate that a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Kenneth A. Link, 60, of Elmwood, WI and his passenger Carla L. Link, 58, also of Elmwood, were traveling south on County Highway CC.
The motorcycle crossed over the centerline and struck a northbound 2003 GMC Yukon operated by Shawn D. Burton, 63, of White Heath, IL.
The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female passenger of the motorcycle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The driver and passenger of the GMC were not injured.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State patrol.
