House Panel Releases More Records From Jeffrey Epstein's Estate
The House Oversight Committee released more records from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's estate late Monday, including hundreds of pages from a book compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell for his 50th birthday in 2003.
Hours earlier, Democrats on the panel had released a letter in the book allegedly signed by Mr. Trump. The president has denied penning the message, which is typed within what appears to be the outline of a woman's body.
GOP Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer of Kentucky accused Democrats of "cherry-picking documents and politicizing information."

New test scores from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation's Report Card, show eighth-graders' science scores have fallen 4 points since 2019 and 12th-graders' math and reading scores have fallen 3 points in the same time period.
The tests were administered between January and March 2024.

Israel on Tuesday issued an order calling for residents of Gaza City to evacuate, saying the Israeli military will operate "with great force" within the city.
"Staying in the city is extremely dangerous," Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, said on social media.
The order and warnings followed an approval by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government of a plan to seize Gaza City, the largest city in the under-siege enclave. Israel began ground operations within the city about a week ago.

President Trump is ramping up immigration enforcement operations in Chicago and other areas as a way to target crime in major cities his administration has sought to paint as urban hellscapes.
The immigration enforcement has so far stopped short of the type of widespread federal policing that the president has floated. But a Supreme Court ruling Monday gives the administration wider latitude to conduct immigration stops as it targets “criminal illegal aliens.”

A former Meta employee sued the company over allegations that its WhatsApp messaging service contained cybersecurity failures that could compromise user privacy.
The former WhatsApp security head claimed he began receiving “negative performance feedback” shortly after his initial disclosure.
A Meta spokesperson disputed Baig’s allegations in a statement, and downplayed his role and ranking at the company.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley announced his candidacy for Wisconsin governor in 2026, joining what is shaping up to be a competitive Democratic primary race.
The 39-year-old Democrat made his announcement through a YouTube video, emphasizing his personal connection to struggle and commitment to inclusive leadership.
"I'm running for Governor because I know what it's like to struggle — and I've spent my life fighting to make sure no one gets left behind," Crowley said.

Wisconsin Democrats are accusing one of their own of threatening to kill three of her colleagues, an allegation that the lawmaker has told local media stems from “poorly worded hyperbole.”
Democratic leaders said in a statement on Sept. 6 that state Rep. Sylvia Ortiz-Velez made a comment about shooting three caucus members with whom she’d had disagreements. The statement followed one on Sept. 4 announcing that Ortiz-Velez was leaving the Democratic caucus.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 28,000 crashes happened along the shoulder of a road in the U.S. in 2023. 585 of those crashes were deadly.
This is one reason some states, including Wisconsin, are looking to expand their Move Over laws.
19 states, as well as Washington D.C., have already implemented changes to their law that include all vehicles with flashing or hazard lights.
Wisconsin’s 2001 law could be extended under this new proposal to become the 20th state with that designation.

A raucous July town hall in southeastern Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District served as a showcase for President Donald Trump’s ability to energize his political opponents, and as a reminder of the stakes of next year’s midterms.
It was organized by U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, a Republican from Janesville who was first elected in 2018 to fill the seat previously held by Paul Ryan, the former House speaker and GOP vice presidential candidate. Steil, who fits the Ryan mold, easily won his previous elections, defeating most of his Democratic opponents by double-digit margins.
