Russia Signals Its Official Stance On Using Nuclear Weapons Is About To Change, Accusing The West Of ‘Escalation’

Russia has again hinted that it is making changes to its official policy on the use of nuclear weapons, amid Ukraine’s continuing incursion into its Kursk border region.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Sunday that Russia is in the process of making changes to its nuclear doctrine, which sets out the conditions in which nuclear weapons can be used, because of the West’s involvement in an “escalation” of the war in Ukraine.

U.S. Seizes Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's Plane Over Alleged Sanctions Violations

The U.S. seized a plane belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and brought it to the U.S. on Monday, the Justice Department said in a statement, claiming the jet was exported from Florida in violation of U.S. sanctions.

The plane, identified as a Dassault Falcon 900EX, was seized in the Dominican Republic and transported to Florida, the department said.

A provisional assessment showed that 24 inmates were shot dead by “warning” gunshots as they tried to escape from the overcrowded Makala Central Prison in Kinshasa early Monday, Congolese Interior Minister Jacquemin Shabani said on the social platform X.

The entertainer died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, according to Variety, citing his son Jim Moret, a chief correspondent for Inside Edition. CNN has sought comment from Darren’s and Moret’s agents.

Several cars in Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz' motorcade were involved in a crash Monday on their way to campaign event, WISN 12 News reports.

The vehicle carrying Walz was able to continue to the event at Summerfest grounds.

Bayfield Schools Launches Ojibwe Language Immersion Program

The Bayfield School District is launching an Ojibwemowin Immersion Program for kindergarten students this fall as part of supporting language revitalization efforts with the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

District administrator Beth Manidoo Makwa Paap said school officials have been discussing the program with the Red Cliff tribe for a couple years. The district of roughly 420 students is one of the few in Wisconsin where the vast majority of kids — 69.2 percent — are Native American.
